Walk Policies

If you are interested in signing up for the Teen Girls Unity Walk, please read our policies carefully prior to registering

Refunds

Race registration fees (and the processing charge from RunSignup) are not refundable for the 2024 Teen Girls Unity Walk, powered by Crittenton Services of Greater Washington. These funds are used to pay for walk premiums, permits, supplies, vendors, and other costs incurred before, during, and after the event is held.

To be fair to everyone, we cannot make exceptions to this policy.

Cancellation or Postponement

The walk is intended to take place rain or shine! Please check the website for updates (www.teengirlsunitywalk.com)

2020 showed just how unpredictable our world can be. We know that it's important to have as much information at your disposal as possible before deciding to attend an event, and we want you to know exactly what your options will be should the 2024 in-person walk not be able to take place as originally planned.

When inclement weather or other circumstances in the surrounding race area (local emergencies, public health emergencies, etc.) threaten to impact an event, we must make decisions on whether to continue as planned or make modifications to the schedule. While lightning may be the most commonly recognized weather issue, there are many other conditions that could force us to make changes to our walk plans (high winds, flooding, heavy rain, public safety demands on law enforcement due to inclement weather, safety concerns on the course, etc.). Circumstances not related to weather (downed trees or power lines, local emergencies, etc.) can also impact our event. In some cases, these conditions may be obvious to participants, but in others, they may only be known to Unity Walk officials and law enforcement.

Modifications to our event could include delaying the start time, modifying the planned route, postponing to a later date, or canceling. Crittenton Services of Greater Washington reserves the right to modify our event at any time, and we exercise this right to keep participants, vendors, public safety officers, spectators, and staff safe.

Please know that in the event of extreme weather conditions, cancellation is our last resort. We promise to communicate issues to participants as soon as possible leading up to an event through e-mail, social media, and updates to our website. In some instances, we may be able to make decisions several days in advance; other situations call for "game time" decisions.

Our venue is on National Park grounds at the Lincoln Memorial, and if our walk is postponed due to unforeseen circumstances, registration for all participants will automatically be transferred to the rescheduled date. If participants can no longer participate in person, their registration will be transferred to next year’s walk. If a full cancellation occurs, registrants who are affected will have their registrations discounted and transferred to next year’s walk.

By registering for the Unity Walk, you understand and accept the above cancellation policy. If you have any questions about this policy, please email us at uniteteengirls@crittentonservices.org PRIOR to registering.
